The Woodland community covers northeast Henry County and includes significant portions of the historic Kelleytown area.

Woodland High School was opened in the mid-2000’s following significant growth throughout the county. Other schools in the Woodland cluster include Pleasant Grove Elementary, Woodland Elementary, and Woodland Middle.

The most notable transportation project in the area is a long-range plan to widen state route 138 between US 23 / SR 42 and SR 155. The first segment of the project, between Georgia 42 and Millers Mill Road, is included in the scope of work within the GA 42 widening project budgeted for construction in FY 2026. Improvements further east are forecast to build in the 2040’s in the Atlanta regional transportation plan.

SPLOST Projects

SPLOST IV projects within the Woodland area have included fire station #16 and Bud Kelley Park on Airline Road, the roundabout at SR 138 and Hemphill Road, and a bridge repair on Hemphill Road over James Creek.

Proposed projects within the SPLOST V program include widening Fairview Road between Home Depot and Patillo Road and generic improvements at county parks. Local voters will decide whether to renew or end the local sales tax in November.
