The Union Grove community in east Henry County is concentrated around the intersection of state route 155 and East Lake School. The Union Grove schools, several churches, and a Kroger shopping center can be found close by.
Union Grove High School is the county’s third largest high school by enrollment, as of March 2019, and consistently ranks among the county’s best schools. Other schools in the Union Grove cluster include East Lake Elementary, Hickory Flat Elementary, Timber Ridge Elementary, and Union Grove Middle.
The most notable transportation project in the area is the north segment of the McDonough Parkway connecting US 23 / SR 42 and SR 155. Right of way acquisition was completed in September 2019 and Henry County has applied for federal funding to construct the roadway.
SPLOST IV projects within the Union Grove area have included the roundabout at state route 20 and East Lake Road, additional turn lanes at SR 155 and Campground Road, and paving Elliott Road north of East Lake. SPLOST IV funding was also used in collaboration with Georgia DOT to replace the bridge on Elliott Road over Walnut Creek.
Proposed projects within the SPLOST V program include a roundabout at East Lake and Airline Road, funding for design only towards future improvements on East Lake Road, and funding for design only towards future intersection improvements at East Lake @ Elliott Road and East Lake @ Rowan Drive.
