The Ola community in east Henry County is concentrated around the intersection of state route 81 and North Ola Road. The Ola schools, North Ola Park, and a new grocery store anchor the area.
Ola High School is the county’s second-largest high school by enrollment. Other schools in the Ola cluster include New Hope Elementary, Ola Elementary, Rock Spring Elementary, and Ola Middle.
The most notable transportation project in the area is widening state route 81. Phase I extends between Postmaster Drive and Bethany Road. The project can begin purchasing right of way in FY 2022. In January 2021, Atlanta Regional Commission announced the project will receive $7 million dollars towards construction in FY 2025.
A second phase is planned between Bethany Road and Keys Ferry. Henry County budgeted $400,000 in local funding towards the project in SPLOST V. The funding will provide a local match for design work if the project is selected for federal funding.
