The Dutchtown community contains several of the county’s commercial activity centers, including Henry Town Center on Jonesboro Road and Hudson Bridge Crossing in Stockbridge. The community extends from State Route 138 in the Red Oak area to Mt Carmel Road.
Dutchtown High School is the county’s largest high school by enrollment, as of March 2019. Other schools in the cluster include Dutchtown Elementary, Pate’s Creek Elementary, Red Oak Elementary, and Dutchtown Middle.
The most notable transportation project in the area is the western parallel connector, a new four-lane roadway planned west of Interstate 75. The first segment of the project will connect Hudson Bridge Road and Jodeco Road, with a future segment planned to provide additional connectivity with Jonesboro Road. The project is in preliminary engineering with construction budgeted to start in FY 2023.
A second notable project will widen Jonesboro Road between I-75 and US 19 / 41 in Clayton County. The project is budgeted for construction in 2035 by Georgia DOT.
Completed SPLOST IV projects in Dutchtown include new roundabouts at Mt. Carmel and Chambers Road and Jodeco Road at Blackhall. A bridge replacement project on Blackhall Road is under construction and design work is underway to improve the intersection at Mill Road and Mt Carmel.
Planned SPLOST V projects in the area include park improvements at Nash Farm and generic transportation improvements in commission district II.
