Locust Grove, Henry County present to Georgia DOT

Representatives from both Henry County and Locust Grove visited Georgia DOT. On Monday, June 28, Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price and three Henry County commissioners joined GDOT Commissioner Russell McMurray. Also present were three GDOT board members who represent Henry County, county and city staff. The event presented local contributions for the Bethlehem Road interchange. The new exit will provide another access point off I-75 between state route 155 and Bill Gardner Parkway.

Henry County is contributing $5 million dollars towards build costs. The county budgeted funds for the project during SPLOST IV. Voters approved the SPLOST IV local sales tax program in November 2013. In addition, Locust Grove contributed $1 million dollars for design costs. The city’s funding is sourced from general fund.

Georgia DOT is providing $114 million towards the project. This includes over $9 million in design costs. It also provides $101 million dollars for construction. The exit is presently in the design phase. The state budgeted construction funds in FY 2024. GDOT estimates the new interchange will open during 2027.
