On Thursday, October 29, Governor Kemp announced Ken’s Foods will invest $103 million to expand their McDonough manufacturing and distribution operations. Ken’s Foods is one of the largest employers in Henry County, with roughly 500 employees. Their expansion will add about 70 positions.
Ken’s Foods Expansion
Ken’s Foods is located on King Mill Road in Midland Industrial Park and has maintained a Henry County presence since 1997. Earlier this year, the company purchased thirty-five acres across the street from its manufacturing facility. A new 343,625 square foot building will be constructed at the property to consolidate the company’s support facilities operations.
The project will also include new production lines and building upgrades to the existing manufacturing operation. The expansion will create 70 additional jobs, including positions in food processing, manufacturing, and distribution, along with careers in management and supervision. “Our community has shown once again that we are a great place for business. Henry County is thankful for Ken’s Foods’ continued investment and job creation,” said Chair of the Henry County Board of Commissioners June Wood, who is also a member of the Board of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “In addition to the new jobs and investments that this expansion will bring to our community, we anticipate that the consolidation of Ken’s operations to its new building in Henry will remove more than 40 trucks per day from the busy Georgia Highway 155 corridor.”
Ken’s Foods joins several companies — including Zinus USA, Inc. and Purple mattress — in making new job announcements this year. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2021, Henry County represented 21% of the state’s job numbers announcing 2,114 new positions during that time.
