County approves roof replacement at public safety HQ

Henry County commissioners approved an agreement on October 6 to replace the roof at the public safety complex in McDonough. The item was approved as part of the consent agenda without discussion.

The Henry County Public Safety Complex was purchased by the county in 2006 and serves as the main office building for the police department, fire department, code enforcement, and SPLOST department.

The roof replacement will be completed by Garland / DBS Inc. of Cleveland, OH at the cost of $1,469,707.00. The roof has a thirty (30) year warranty.

Garland / DBS Inc. was also awarded roof repairs at the Henry County Jail and Henry County Jail Annex in August.

The project is funded through capital financing as part of the revenue received by the county’s lease-purchase agreement for the Henry County Judicial Center. The original cost estimate for the roof was $1.75 million.

When considering the project budgets for each of the three roofing contracts, the three locations are $154,425 under their combined budgets. Roof repairs or replacement at an additional thirteen county facilities are included within the capital project financing.
