The McDonough Planning Commission considered public review for the proposed RaceTrac service station off highway 155 this week. The proposed development is located at 716–726 Highway 155 South between I-75 and King Mill Road.
The applicant has requested a rezoning from C-2 (central commercial) to C-3 (highway commercial) for the project. The MPC recommended approval of the project.
RaceTrac Petroleum is proposing automobile and commercial vehicle fueling at the location. The commercial vehicle fueling is arranged to provide a one-way directional flow from Highway 155 through to Industrial Blvd. After fueling, tractor-trailers will be able to turn right out of the property, proceed south to the intersection of State Route 155 and Industrial Blvd, and turn right to SR 155 South to access the interstate.
If the rezoning request is approved, construction is estimated to start later this year and finish in summer 2021.
There were no speakers during the public review for the project. There was one resident in the audience that was not affiliated with either the applicant or Moving Henry Forward when the case was presented.
The McDonough city council will hold a public hearing and consider voting on the request during its next meeting on Monday, March 16, at 6 pm. Meetings are held at McDonough city hall and are free and open to the public to attend.
