Company representatives from JWA Ventures, county officials, and local media gathered Tuesday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony on the new Shoppes at Ola Crossroads development. The development, located at the northeast corner of state route 81 and North Ola Road, will be anchored by a Publix grocery store.
The new 48,000 square feet grocery store has a targeted opening in the first quarter of 2021. The development will also include over 22,000 sq ft of auxiliary shops and three outparcel’s.
“The Shoppes at Ola Crossroads will serve as a neighborhood shopping center in a growing area of Henry County. The mixed-use zoning designation received in 2019 will provide the frame work for retail, restaurants, pharmacy, various soft goods, office, and single family residential,” said Evan Conder, Vice President of Development for Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC. “This commitment from Publix speaks volumes to the strength and quality of the community, as the first phase of this development begins.”

The project was approved by the board of commissioners in April 2019 as part of a larger 103.5 acre rezoning to mixed use (MU). In addition to the Publix-anchored shopping center, a single-family residential subdivision with half-acre lots will be built. Home sizes will start at 2,400 square feet.
