Hampton postpones vote on South Hampton Road annexation

The Hampton city council voted 6-0 on Tuesday, September 10, to postpone votes related to a proposed annexation and rezoning of 43.23 +/- acres located on South Hampton Road. The city council stated the intent to hold a community meeting on the proposed development prior to moving forward.

HP Henry LLC of Atlanta, GA proposes to develop the subject property into 91 lots. The applicant has applied for Hampton’s R-3 (single-family residential) zoning district, allowing for minimum lot sizes of 12,000 square feet.

The Henry County zoning advisory board, acting in its official capacity as the city of Hampton’s zoning advisory board, recommended denial of the request in July 2019. Henry County planning staff recommended approval of the request as part of staff review.
