The city of Savannah is set to break ground on a new 10,000-seat arena in September with an estimated completion date of December 2021. The new arena will be close to 260,000 square feet and has an estimated price tag of $165 million.

The project is being funded with $120 million in SPLOST dollars and $45 million in bonds to be paid back with proceeds from the city’s rental motor vehicle tax.

A proposed development in Stockbridge is slated to include a 50,000 square foot convention center and 10,000-seat arena. The Henry County Commissioners approved a development agreement for the project in May, pending the results of a feasibility study. The county has not identified a funding source for the potential venue.
