Georgia DOT has scheduled a public information open house to preview plans for a new two-lane connector road within downtown Jackson. The new roadway will serve to better align state route 36 and remove two ninety-degree turns currently required to navigate the state highway. Construction is scheduled for 2023.

The open house will occur from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12 at the Butts County Administration Building, 625 W. Third St., Jackson. Area residents are invited to attend, view the proposed plans, and submit commentary to Georgia DOT.
